To provide you with the opportunity to produce a portfolio of evidence and work based assessment necessary for the NVQ/SVQ.

What will the course involve? back to top ^

This course assesses and builds on competencies required to the standard as set by the awarding bodies of this qualification. Competencies assessed cover a very broad range of hazard/risk situations. You will demonstrate how you: Maintain and enhance Health and Safety systems for complex risks; Seek, evaluate and organise information for action; Contribute to, and keep pace with improvements in practice; Promote a positive culture of Health and Safety for complex tasks; Contribute to the maintenance and the development of emergency response capability.

Workplace or eLearning assessments and production of portfolio (online or traditional).

What are the entry requirements? back to top ^

There are no formal requirements for any of the OCR NVQs/SVQs (however a NEBOSH certificate or Diploma part1 is desirable for entry into the NVQ level 4) but candidates need to have sufficient Health & Safety responsibilities, and preferably in a managerial role.

How long does it normally take to complete? back to top ^

7 – 12 months is the average for most candidates, but you do have up-to 24 months from registering to complete.

What memberships can I get after qualifying? back to top ^

You will be able to apply to IOSH for membership and will be awarded designatory letters to use after your name. These vary depending on the level of the NVQ/SVQ achieved.

For example; NVQ/SVQ 4 will allow you to use Dip RSA (Diploma as recognised by the Royal Society of Arts) and will normally achieve GradIOSH status.

This qualification can be run at your workplace or suitable meeting area or can be completed entirely online through our NVQ/SVQ eLearning site. Due to the flexibility of NVQ’s, courses can start once the application process is complete. - please contact us for further details.
