Course Overview
This qualification is aimed at those in a management role across all occupations and sectors of employment who may be involved in activities as part of their job role including: managing business processes, developing and implementing operational plans, planning and implementing change and managing finance. The qualification allows a candidate to quantify their competency at a managerial level upon successful completion.
Course Structure
To gain this qualification, you must complete 4 mandatory units, amounting to 23 credits, and a choice of optional units, with a minimum total of 15 credits. The mandatory and optional units for this qualification are detailed below; further additional optional units are available upon request.
Mandatory Units
- B1 - Develop and implement operational plans for your area of responsibility
- B6 - Provide leadership and direction for own areas of responsibility
- C5 - Plan changes in your own area of responsibility
- D2b - Develop productive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
Optional Units
- B12 - Promote equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion across an organisation
- C3 - Lead innovation within an organisation
- D2a - Develop working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- D7 - Support learning and development within own area of responsibility
- E6a - Implement, monitor and review health and safety policy in own area of responsibility
- E7 - Manage health and safety across an organisation
- F3b - Monitor and review business processes
Assessment
Like all NVQ/SVQs, this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to a person’s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work.
Assessment is by production of a personal portfolio demonstrating understanding and application of the NVQ/SVQ 5 National Standards, this is greatly simplified by our eLearning platform, where evidence can be electronically submitted.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal requirements but candidates need to be experienced, practicing middle managers who are able to demonstrate both theoretical and practical competence in the workplace to a national standard in key areas.
