Overview

This qualification is aimed at managers who are responsible for the control of activities and work output of other managers, who have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable management and leadership skills, for example improving organisational performance, providing leadership, encouraging innovation, developing a strategic business plan, managing risk, planning the workforce and managing a programme of complementary projects.

Course Structure

To gain this qualification, you must complete the 3 mandatory units, amounting to 27 credits, and a choice of optional units with a minimum total of 18 credits. The mandatory and optional units for this qualification are detailed below.

  • B3 - Develop a strategic business plan
  • C3 - Develop strategic direction and leadership
  • E7 - Lead change in an organisation

Optional Units

  • C3 – Lead innovation within an organisation
  • D4 – Plan an organisation's workforce
  • F3a – Design and manage the business process
  • F12 – Improve organisational performance

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements but candidates need to be experienced, practising middle managers who is able to demonstrate both theoretical and practical competence in the workplace to a national standard in key areas.

A personal skill scan conducted by our staff, will ensure that your current job role lends itself to the demands of the National Standards at the preferred level.

Funding

This qualification has been accredited to the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) and, as such, it may be eligible for public funding.

Assessment

Like all NVQ/SVQs, this qualification is competence-based. This means that it is linked to a person's ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work.

Assessment is by production of a personal portfolio demonstrating understanding and application of the NVQ/SVQ 5 National Standards, this is greatly simplified by our eLearning platform, where evidence can be electronically submitted.
