NEBOSH has regained IOSH membership for International Learners!

Have you heard the news? NEBOSH has regained IOSH Membership recognition for international learners of the NEBOSH National and International Diploma! This means that learners from all around the world can now benefit from NEBOSH’s prestigious Diplomas and gain CertIOSH membership. But that’s not all – NEBOSH have changed their regulator from SQA accreditation to Ofqual for the National and International Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. This change will take effect from the July Diploma Assessments and bring exciting new benefits, including new qualification titles that are in line with Ofqual requirements. From now on, you can achieve either the NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals or the NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals. These new qualifications will be in effect from the Diploma assessments commencing 19 July 2023.

By moving to Ofqual, NEBOSH has regained IOSH membership recognition for their overseas learners. This recognition, combined with their existing recognition from BCSP, BCRSP, and IIRSM, ensures that their qualifications are globally recognized and respected. The changes in assessment, such as new unit codes, mark changes, and reduced assessment hours, will help students achieve their qualification in a more efficient and effective manner. For instance, the total marks for DN1/DI1 will reduce from 550 to 300 total, while the assessment submission window for DN1/ID1 will reduce from 6 to 4 weeks from the assessment release date. Moreover, NEBOSH have reduced the total qualification time and credits, but the syllabus content remains the same from the July 2020 specification.

But that’s not all, these changes have also made the Diploma assessment process more manageable with reduced assessment hours and total marks, allowing learners to focus on what really matters – understanding the material and applying it in real-life situations. With the reduced qualification time and credits, learners can now achieve their Diploma in a shorter amount of time, without sacrificing the quality of their education.

The reduced assessment hours are:

  • DN1/ID1 will reduce from 60 to 40 hours completion. Assessment Submission window reduced from 6 to 4 weeks from the assessment release date.
  • DN2/ID2 will reduce from 40 to 20 hours completion. Assessment Submission window reduced from 4 to 2 weeks from the assessment release date.
  • DN3/ID3 will reduce from 40 to 20 hours completion. Assessment Submission window reduced from 4 to 2 weeks from the assessment release date.

The total marks reduced are:

  • DN1/DI1 will reduce from 550 to 300 total.
  • DN2/DI2 will reduce from 300 to 175 total.
  • DN3/DI3 will reduce from 230 to 175 total.

DN1/DI1 will still consist of two papers; the second paper will have one ‘combined part’ (instead of being split into parts 2, 3 and 4). Paper 1 will be 100 marks (reduced from 150 marks) and Paper 2 will be 200 marks (instead of 400 marks).

  • National Diploma – total qualification time reduced to 415 hours (43 credits)
  • International Diploma – total qualification time reduced to 409 hours (42 credits).
