Kids must wear goggles to play conkers
In a recent survey of a primary school in Cambridgeshire, it was discovered that 95% of pupils didn’t know how to play the classic playground game of conkers! In order to fulfil his duty of care, the head teacher of the primary school carried out a risk assessment concerning nut allergies and even contacted the Anaphylaxis Association to confirm whether permitting the game would breach Health and Safety Laws.
According to the HSE, there isn’t a Health and Safety issue regarding the playing of conkers, however, there is a ‘myth’ that school children should not participate or wear PPE when partaking in the activity!
