Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements exist to enrol on to this NEBOSH National Diploma Course. This NEBOSH Diploma is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree and candidates must be prepared to study at this level.

Note: The new NEBOSH National Diploma no longer covers information found within the level 3 general certificate.

A major change due to the June 2021 course update, is that, it is now strongly recommended for students to have already achieved certification in the National General Certificate before attempting this nebosh Diploma level 6 course.

Not only does this greatly improve a students’ potential end-result, but students may also be examined on certificate level 3 knowledge covered in the general certificate. For those that are not already certified with the level 3 NEBOSH National General Certificate, this could be a deciding factor if you pass or fail this course.

Students may find it difficult to gain a pass mark, if they do not have prior background knowledge as a health & safety practitioner or the ability to study at Degree level.

Though, the only critical requirement to enrol on this course is that the student must have an appropriate understanding of the English language in order to explain the concepts within the course syllabus.

NEBOSH recommend that students score 7.0 or higher in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

Questions within NEBOSH examinations are all phrased in English. Your answers are also required to be provided in English.

As long as you meet the required standard of English, you can enrol on this NEBOSH Diploma.

Learning Outcomes

The NEBOSH National Diploma qualification is divided into three primary learning units:

Career Progression

As NEBOSH Diplomas are one of the highest level qualifications in health and safety, and generally regarded as the best by employers. Rather than looking to progress to even higher level qualifications, it’s worthwhile considering branching out into ‘specialisms’. These specialised courses focus much more closely around specific topic areas, i.e. fire, environmental risk, construction or even oil and gas safety.

When combining core knowledge from the Diploma with specialised courses, you’re portfolio becomes more appealing to employers.

For those who prefer a more “on-the-job” approach to training, NVQ Level 6 Diplomas are also available, should learners wish to pursue a less academic route to their training.
