Standard of English
An adequate understanding of the English language required by students who undertake study for the NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work must be to such degree that they can both understand and articulate the key concepts contained within the course syllabus.

The syllabus is based on recognised best practice in management of health in the workplace:
- Identifying risks to health at work
- Learning how to manage sickness absence and implement a return to work programme
- Workplace health promotion
- Disability discrimination and protecting health at work
- Dealing with mental health at work
- Working effectively with health professionals.
Exams and how you’re assessed
There are two major course Units (namely NHC1 & NHC2) to successfully complete before you become fully certified with the NEBOSH National Certificate in the Management of Health and Well-being at Work qualification.
The examinations are held twice each year and are to be taken on location at a registered NEBOSH examination centre. Additional sitting fees may be applicable based on the exam centre venue.
The examinations are scheduled on NEBOSH standard examination dates in the months of March / September.
The Written Exam Paper
The examination is comprised of a single 2-hour written paper. For the written paper, the exam questioning format consists of one long answer question and ten short answer questions – all of which you should attempt to gain maximum marks.
The Practical Exam Paper
Additionally, students must complete a practical inspection report assessment for unit NHC2. The practical paper NHC2 consists of carrying out a risk assessment of a workplace and preparing a short report.
How your NEBOSH papers are marked
The core Unit exam paper will be marked by approved NEBOSH examiners that provide basic feedback and an overall grade.
IMPORTANT! Only students who have enrolled with NEBOSH through an accredited NEBOSH training centre are eligible to register for the examination.
