One Practical Assessment

The NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Award is assessed through one practical assessment.

Learners complete a workplace health and safety review which requires them to consider how health and safety is currently managed, identify health and safety issues, review current controls, consider whether risk can be reduced and select an important issue for improvement using moral, legal and financial reasons.

The assessment takes approximately 3 hours and has a pass mark of 45 out of 60 (75%).

How the course is graded

To achieve the NEBOSH Health & Safety at Work Award, students must pass the HSA1 Practical Assessment which is graded as:

If a learner receives a Refer result, they can resubmit the assessment. There is no limit on the number of times the assessment can be resubmitted, although learners must register and pay the relevant registration fee each time.

Once a learner has achieved a Pass, the qualification parchment is normally issued within 20 working days of the result declaration date.
