This NVQ in mental health, is an awareness level course and those qualified are not expected to be able to deal with serious mental health issues alone – that would require a higher level qualification. As this is an awareness level course, it is designed for those with a need to effectively advise employees within the workplace, where to get the best help as regards to mental wellbeing.
Study Method
Very much self-paced – learners are expected to undertake research in their own time or during working hours, to gather information in order to complete a template. Evidence can be gathered from online or offline sources. Online access is provided to submit this evidence for evaluation to your portfolio.
Entry Requirements
This qualification is approved for candidates aged 19 and over. Although there are no other formal entry requirements to enrol onto the qualification, as a provider SHEilds must carry out an initial assessment of a potential candidates skills and knowledge before they are permitted to enrol. This aids to identify any gaps and to plan the assessment.
Therefore our ProQual NVQ training courses have Eligibility Criteria, which should be met before a candidate can enrol to undertake the qualification.

Steps to Pass
Essentially there are 3 steps to passing this NVQ Level 2 in Mental Health First Aid Awareness qualification.
Certificate Delivery
When your evidence has passed the requirements to gain the qualification, you’ll receive a physical certificate as proof you have passed the NVQ level 2 course. We’ll then contact you and arrange for delivery of your course completion certificate to an address of your choosing.
Career Progression
Once certified with the NVQ Level 2 in Mental Health First Aid Awareness qualification, we recommend studying a level 3 certificate course, such as NEBOSH or ProQual NVQ.
