Harrison Ford Breaks Leg attacked by Millennium Falcon

Millennium Falcon Strikes Back @ Harrison Ford!

I’ve taken interest in the below story as my personal opinion on the matter is that the HSE have made the right decision to prosecute the employer. Any company, whether based on a construction site or film studio, has a responsibility to keep all employees safe while they are carrying out their duties. There has also been added pressure imposed on employers to keep on top of safety related issues, especially due to the recent and vast media coverage on the matter.

How is Safety on a Corellian Transport Freighter ?

On the 11th February 2016 the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) informed Foodles Production (UK) Ltd, that it intends to prosecute them regarding an incident involving actor Harrison Ford. The actor reportedly suffered a broken leg and other injuries on set, when an incident occurred and he was struck by a heavy hydraulic metal door of the Millennium Falcon (a Corellian transport freighter), whilst on the set of the latest Star Wars movie. During the filming of recently released Star Wars movie, which maybe should have been called “The Millennium Falcon Awakens”.

The incident involving Harrison Ford happened on 12th June 2014 at whilst filming at the famous Pinewood Studios.

A spokesman for HSE said:

“HSE has today informed Foodles Production (UK) Ltd that it will be prosecuted over four alleged breaches of health and safety law. The charges relate to an incident during filming of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, which left Harrison Ford with serious injuries after he was hit by a heavy hydraulic door.”

“By law, employers must take reasonable steps to protect workers – this is as true on a film set as a factory floor. We have investigated thoroughly and believe that we have sufficient evidence to bring the case to court.”

Foodles Production (UK) Ltd, the company responsible for producing the blockbuster movie “Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens” are also responsible for managing the risks created during production and ensuring all staff are kept safe whilst working under their supervision, under health and safety law.

* The NEBOSH Intergalactic General Certificate is as fictional as the latest Star Wars movie
