As a Business Owner or Manager you may be concerned about safety risks in terms of lost days, higher insurance costs, lost reputation or even falling foul of the law. We specialise in supporting businesses with their safety needs, ensuring that they meet the legal and moral requirements placed on you.

We have developed a capacity building system that allows businesses to build health and safety competence from within their company. We work alongside their staff, supporting them at all levels.

Over the past 15 years we have supported many SMEs in differing sectors, engineering, construction, Social care, NHS PCTs, transport, retail and the voluntary & community sectors. Our specialist consultants are supporting food and manufacturing concerns at the highest levels.

Many businesses approach SHEilds because they have been invited to tender for work or to provide a service to a large corporate organisation or local council. We are able to offer a bespoke service in this matter and assist you in completing the relevant sections of the documentation.

Our consultants are highly trained, hold professional membership of the appropriate institutes and are experienced in all sectors. We offer a bespoke professional friendly service with a common sense approach and that is tailored to yours and your business needs.

Every business is different and with this in mind we offer a free consultation and assessment to establish your business requirements and provide you with an initial report.

Following our first consultation we will also be in a position to offer you a Service Level Agreement and a quote. In most cases and depending on your safety needs we have found that the following model works:

Free Consultation

At our first meeting we will consider your existing or proposed health & safety policy, risk assessments and safety management arrangements, method statements, staff safety training etc.

This allows us to highlight areas that may require particular or immediate attention. Please note that we will do this with you, allowing you access to every aspect of the process.

Inspection & Report

We will undertake an initial safety tour of your premises and provide you with a written report of good and poor practice. This is used as a baseline indicator to measure the effectiveness of our service at quarterly intervals. You will receive a written report supported by a photographic record of our findings.

We will also undertake a formal audit of your safety management documentation and if required provide you with a complete portfolio of template documents that can be the basis of your future safety management and evidence based files.

Working with you

At this point we will have a good understanding of your business activities and we will be in a position to plan our actions with you.

Undertaking Risk Assessments/Safe Procedures & the Safety Folder.

We will write these policies on your behalf and provide you with a comprehensive Safety File including Safety Management Procedures that cover all the necessary actions and forms required to ensure that you meet the statutory requirements placed on you.

Delivery of staff training

Having identified your staff training needs, we will deliver the training at your premises where this is possible. To ensure flexibility we also have distance learning or eLearning training in most subjects to meet our needs.

Visits & Monitoring

We will undertake an agreed number of visits to your premises as required The intention of these visits is to meet with you and monitor the arrangements put in place and inspect your workplace. You will be provided with a written report on each occasion. Areas of good and poor practice will be highlighted and any hazards/risks will be assessed and documented.

Evidence & Administration

All of the above will be documented; we will provide you with a safety file in both paper and digital formats and will ensure that all actions, training and inspections are evidenced.
